Meet Your Advocates
Patient Advocacy has always been at the forefront of my nursing practice. Whether it be a critically ill patient in the Emergency Department, or working with a patient’s family to provide end-of-life care in the Intensive Care Unit, I have always strived to provide patients with the best nursing care possible and support their loved ones with compassion and empathy.
This was instilled in me early on as I attended a hospital-based nursing program, one with a reputation for exceptional patient-centered care and a longstanding tradition of nursing excellence. Although I have since continued my educational pursuits and earned dual Master of Science in Nursing / Master of Health Administration degrees, I have never forgotten the importance of these fundamental concepts.
I realize that our healthcare system is complex, fragmented and confusing. Throughout my 24 years as a Registered Nurse, I have worked in a variety of clinical and leadership roles in healthcare systems throughout North Carolina and Virginia, and am aware of the nuances in our local and regional systems. I have seen the frustration and anxiety that patients and families feel when they are overwhelmed and not sure where to turn.
In August 2017, I started Carolina Patient Advocates, PLLC with the goal of providing you with an experienced, professional Registered Nurse to act as YOUR Patient Advocate, to look out for YOUR best interests and guide YOU through the complexities of our healthcare system. We can ease your burdens and offer experienced guidance to help you and your loved ones make choices that are right for you! I look forward to working with you!

– AMERICAN NURSES ASSOCIATION, CODE OF ETHICS FOR NURSES
As the nurse in the family, it is natural to be called on when there is a health crisis or concern. I have advocated for friends and family and helped them navigate our increasingly complex healthcare system. It became apparent to me there were countless others that needed someone with my experience and knowledge to partner with them and their healthcare team to ensure they were receiving the very best care and treatment possible and to help alleviate anxiety that comes with a new diagnosis or chronic condition.
I received my nursing degree from Florida State University and started my career practicing in hospital, clinic and home healthcare settings in Tallahassee. Our family has lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for more that two decades and I have enjoyed working as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator, enrolling and managing patients in clinical trials for investigational drugs and devices to treat various cardiovascular and neurological conditions. I also provided services as a consultant in the pharmaceutical research industry for the development of new therapies for diabetes, COPD and stroke prevention.
I am a Board-Certified Patient Advocate and joined Carolina Patient Advocates in 2019 serving the Greater Charlotte area and beyond. I am excited to be working with you!
